Cleaning Up The Studio

I’ve been giving the studio the yearly “consider: keep-or-toss.”  There are, sadly, things I should have tossed out years ago but kept for sentimental reasons (what kind of reason is that?) and things I thought that someday I might  finish (ugh! and not likely) and things that I thought might be fixable (ha!)  This year I’m determined to be brutal.   I’ve been painting with oils for the past couple of weeks because it’s finally warm enough in the studio to paint with the windows open.  These are two not-too-recent paintings done with my portrait group…Hoagie is one of the most popular models in Seattle (I don’t think he liked this painting) and Venus is one of the other artist’s  friends.  I like both of these people, and I like both of these paintings because I think they caught the attitude and personality of the models…although I have to admit that the paintings  just hang around the studio getting dusty.  I also have to admit that I don’t particularly like portrait painting…but I do love that portrait group!
